Your First Sound Bath in Lakeway: What to Expect at HarmonyLab

“I’ve been wanting to try a sound bath, but I don’t really know what happens.”

If that sounds like you, you’re welcome here. Trying something unfamiliar can bring up practical questions: What do I wear? Do I have to meditate? Will everyone else know what they’re doing?

At HarmonyLab Yoga & Pilates in Lakeway, you don’t need to arrive with experience. My hope is that a few simple answers will help you feel comfortable enough to be curious.

What is a sound bath?

A sound bath is a listening experience. You settle into a comfortable position while instruments create sounds around you. There is no water involved—the word “bath” describes being surrounded by sound.

Unlike a flowing yoga class, you aren’t following a sequence of movements. You have time to listen, notice, and rest. You may choose to close your eyes or keep them open. Your experience can be your own.

Do I have to stop thinking?

No. Thoughts about your week, tomorrow’s plans, or the person beside you may come and go. You don’t need to turn that into another thing to accomplish.

If you want an anchor for your attention, you can notice a sound or the support beneath you. You can also simply rest. There is no particular response you need to create and no experience you need to compare with someone else’s.

What does Reiki-infused mean?

Reiki is included as a complementary spiritual practice offered with care and intention. You are welcome to bring your own beliefs and understanding. Participation doesn’t require a particular spiritual background or an expected feeling.

The gathering is an opportunity for rest and reflection, without a promised medical or emotional outcome.

What should I wear or bring?

Wear something comfortable for resting. Before the event, check your booking information for what is provided and what you may want to bring. An extra layer can be helpful if you tend to get cool while staying still.

If lying on the floor is uncomfortable, or if you’re sensitive to sound, contact me before booking so we can discuss the setting and your options. You can change position or step out when you need to.

Can I come alone?

Absolutely. Coming alone is a lovely way to set aside time for yourself. You can also invite

a friend who might enjoy an evening away from the usual plans. Either way, there is no requirement to socialize or explain why you came.

Sometimes the most useful intention is the simplest: “For this hour, I am allowed to pause.”

Join me on October 25

Our Reiki-infused Sound Bath with Laura takes place Sunday, October 25, from 6–7 p.m., at HarmonyLab Yoga & Pilates in Lakeway.

If you’ve been looking for a quieter way to close your weekend, I’d love to welcome you.
